Situada no concelho de Santa Marta de Penaguião Freguesia de Sanhoane, a Quinta de Travassinhos é fortemente marcada pela presença da demarcação pombalina que remonta ao Séc. XVIII e tal como vem descrito em “Pena Minha, Penaguião”:
“Nos limites das Demarcações pombalinas de 1758, na área do atual concelho de Penaguião, foram colocados trinta e dois marcos de granito e (pelo menos) mais três nas adições/ restrições aprovadas em 1761 às mesmas demarcações: ”e por esta forma houveram eles desembargadores, deputados e Concelheyros por demarcado o terreno, que no Sentro da Costa Setemptrional do Rio Douro prodûs vinho de feytoria, e capas de embarque para o Norte,o qual fica dividido, e demarcado com os referidos marcos, que todos são de pedra de cantaria lavrada, e de dés palmos de altura com o que fica enterrado na terra, e leva um Letreyro que dis -Feytoria…”
“(…) e nas adições ou restrições de 1761 foi colocado um em Travassinhos (Sanhoane), com o número 13 na classificação (in Pena ,Minha Penaguião).
Located in the municipality of Santa Marta de Penaguião, in the parish of Sanhoane, Quinta de Travassinhos is marked by the presence of pombaline landmarks, which date back to the XVIII century, as described in “Pena Minha, Penaguião”:
“Within the boundaries of the pombaline landmarks of 1758, in the area of the present municipality of Penaguião, thirty-two granite landmarks were placed and at least three more added in the additions/restrictions approved in 1761“ in this way there were judges, deputies and councilors marking the land, in the Centre of the Douro River’s Northern Coast, produces trade wine and shipping routes to the North, which is divided and marked with the aforementioned landmarks, all of which are of carved stone and are ten hands high, buried in the ground and bearing a sign that reads “Feytoria…”.
“(…) in the additions/restrictions of 1761 one was placed in Travassinhos (Sanhoane), with the classification number 13 (in Pena, Minha Penaguião).
Since 2005, the house has been in the hands of Miguel de Carvalho Monteiro’s family. Following his death, Quinta de Travassinhos is now managed by his son António Ricardo Triães Monteiro, who received the property in an advanced state of degradation. It had been without maintenance or regular use for approximately half a century.
In 2017 the rehabilitation process began under the PDR2020, supervised by the Northern Ministry of Culture – DRCN. The rehabilitation project ended in 2022.
